Addressing Recent Online Bullying and Copyright Violation:
A few days ago, a reader shared a page from my book in an open reader’s group—completely out of context. Clearly, they were looking for attention, and they got it. Several hundred readers, most of whom had never heard of me or read my books, jumped on the post, hurling insults and false accusations.
The public bashing went on for days. They called me a man, labeled me as trans, and even claimed my husband must have written my books. They stalked my social media, took screenshots of my photos, and spread false claims about me. Let’s be clear: being called trans or a man isn’t an insult—it just exposes the homophobia and ignorance of the people making these claims.
But dragging my family into this? That’s where I draw the line.
Someone else suggested I must be a teenager—if only I could turn back that clock!
What’s even more frustrating is that the group’s admins let this escalate, likely because drama boosts engagement. But that says more about them than it does about me.
Then came the claim that my work was AI-generated. That’s cute. I have a degree in English, one in Art and Design, and over 20 years of experience as a designer. I also hold bachelor’s degrees from British universities and speak multiple languages thanks to my diverse background. If you’re going to challenge my work or education, at least make sure you can match mine.
And since you’re so convinced my work is AI, I have a challenge for you: let’s do a live writing and design duel. Real-time. No filters. No AI. Ready to show me what you've got? We can even sell tickets and donate 100% of the proceeds to a charity of your choice. How does AISFUCTF (The AI Skeptic’s Fund for Underdeveloped Critical Thinking Foundation) sound?
Now, about that notorious book page everyone’s losing their minds over: it was written from the POV of a male character. I write male POVs the way they should be—like men. If that makes you think a man wrote my book, then I did my job right.
For fairness, I’m releasing not just the page in question, but the surrounding pages for full context. If you like what you read, great—feel free to buy the book.
But if you’re one of the people buying it just to tear it apart and return it for a refund, you might want to check the copyright page before you start plastering my work all over the internet for your illiterate bullying entertainment. My intellectual property rights are enforceable, and I take them seriously. If you’re abusing Amazon’s buy-return policy, I will report you.
To the group of bullies: I’m a born-and-bred New Yorker. We take hits, we get up, and we keep moving forward. So, by all means, keep coming for me—just know you’re dealing with someone who doesn’t intimidate easily.
This is the last time I’m addressing this. I have books to write.
